Justice for Victims of Crime
I am passionate about gaining justice for victims of crime. A question I’m often asked is, ‘How do you go about this?’
Depending on each case, there are different ways to go about each scenario. In many instances, negligent security can be the root of the problem. In these cases, we sue the owner of the property or business where the crime occurred for failing to provide adequate security for patrons of the business.
One particular case comes to mind. Two men in a nightclub got into a fight, one of them pulled out a gun and started shooting. A stray bullet hit my client who was an innocent bystander. When the shots rang out, people started running to escape. Some of my clients were trampled in the melee and suffered cuts, bruises, neck and back injuries. The club was at fault for not having enough security. First and foremost, how did a gun get through the metal detectors? We found that the security guards often let their friends through with no screening. We also claimed that there were too many people inside the club and it created a dangerous situation when people tried to escape. This is a perfect example of negligent security.
